Welcome to Share Her Smile!
Share Her Smile is an organization dedicated to assisting patients and caregivers enduring the transplant journey. The idea was formed while a courageous young woman, Rachel Gregory, was enduring her own journey. Sadly, Rachel did not live to receive her transplant, so it is now our mission to fulfill her dream of helping others.
Although we are just getting started, we have huge goals! Our primary goal is to establish “Rachel’s House,” a “home away from home,” located near the campus of the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC. This facility will provide temporary, relaxing, affordable accommodations for transplant patients and their caregivers who are traveling from 50 miles or more for clinic visits, medical procedures, or recovery.
In addition, we will support PSC Partners Seeking a Cure, and Donate Life by making annual donations and providing volunteer support at any locally sponsored events.
Our final goal is to provide an annual scholarship to at least one graduating senior from Pulaski County High School in Dublin, Virginia who will be entering into the medical field. Rachel was a 2005 graduate of Pulaski County High School. Throughout her transplant journey she received support from numerous professionals in the medical field: doctors, nurses, lab and x-ray techs, paramedics, and pharmacists to name a few. It is our pleasure to honor Rachel by offering these scholarships to her alma mater. Applications will be available beginning with the 2015 graduating class.
We are very excited about our new venture. We look forward to hosting numerous fundraising events and fulfilling the dream of our “tough cookie,” Rachel Gregory.
